Toba Lake is a volcanic lake with a length of 100 kilometers and 30 kilometers wide, located in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. This lake is the largest lake in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. In the middle of this lake there is a volcanic island named Samosir.Toba Lake is an important tourist destination in North Sumatra. The lake is more like the ocean than a lake. This large lake has magical and cosmological value, because it is believed to be the indwelling Namborru (seven ancestral goddess of Batak Tribe). When people want to hold the event Batak tribe customs around the lake, they must first ask permission to Namborru. As in the celebration of the Feast of the People of Toba Lake is held annually, some rituals done first as a form of respect for ancestors.
